Solar Finance

How much will solar save me on electricity costs?

To accurately determine potential savings, we recommend scheduling an in-home consultation with one of our knowledgeable solar experts. Our experts will evaluate your current electricity usage, roof layout, and other factors to provide precise estimates.

How much will a solar system cost?

For Solar District to provide an accurate quote, we highly recommend scheduling a consultation.

The price of a solar system installation can fluctuate based on several factors, including your location, the installer or retailer you select, available warranties, and the technology and size of the system.

The primary considerations that impact the cost of a solar system installation are:

  • Contractor installation costs
  • The type and quantity of solar panels
  • The size and type of inverter
  • The framing equipment and other system components used
  • The accessibility and height of the roof, as well as the material it’s made of (metal, concrete, or tiles)
  • Any potential post-sales service arrangements.
Will I earn money by sending power to the grid?

Using your solar power in the home is the best way to maximise potential savings. If that’s not an option, your solar energy will be exported to the grid. Your energy provider will then pay you for this electricity. The amount you are paid is called the FiT or Feed-In Tariff. Each energy provider offers a different tariff amount, so it is worth shopping around.

Environmental Benefits

How will solar help the environment?
Solar power has the potential to help the environment in several ways:
  1. Reduced greenhouse gas emissions:
Solar power generates electricity without producing any greenhouse gas emissions, such as carbon dioxide, that contribute to global warming and climate change.

  2. Improved air quality:
Solar power plants do not emit harmful pollutants, such as nitrogen oxides and sulfur dioxide, that contribute to poor air quality and respiratory problems.

  3. Reduced water usage:
Unlike fossil fuel power plants, solar power plants do not require large amounts of water for cooling, which can be especially beneficial in areas with water scarcity.

  4. Reduced land usage:
Solar panels can be installed on rooftops or on land that is unsuitable for agriculture or development, minimizing the amount of land required for energy production.

  5. Increased energy independence:
Solar power can help reduce dependence on fossil fuels, which are a finite resource and subject to price volatility.

Overall, solar power offers a clean, renewable, and sustainable source of energy that can help mitigate the environmental impact of traditional energy sources.

Government
Incentives

How do I claim government incentives?

You can claim government incentives by simply speaking to a solar consultant who will advise you on what you are eligible for, the process of claiming these incentives will be handled by your solar installer during the process.

What are government incentives?

Government incentives are a discount on the retail price of your solar system, the bigger the system size, the more incentives you are eligible for. The most common government incentive is the national Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES) which uses Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs). Available solar incentives can vary depending on your state, so visit our breakdown of available solar incentives here.
