The solar retrofit conversion direct system is a specialized solution that enables the transformation of an already installed high-pressure electric water heater, such as Kwikot or any other brand, with a working pressure of 400kPa or 600kPa, and a water storage capacity of either 150L, into a solar-powered system. This innovative system operates based on the pump circulating method.

The solar collector system utilizes vacuum tubes to harness solar energy. These tubes are resistant to freezing and are equipped with silicone inserts for added protection. They are installed on both ends of the vacuum tube manifold, which is connected to exposed copper pipes on the roof. To prevent heat loss, it is advisable to insulate the pipework with Thermal Pipe Lagging. Additionally, it is recommended to lag all interior roof pipes to further minimize heat loss.
Inside the roof, a 12V solar circulation pump is installed. This pump is connected to the cold water supply from the electric water heater. Its power is derived from a 10W solar panel mounted on the roof’s exterior.
